Fans stunned to learn Menendez brothers star appeared in ‘perfect comedy scene’ over 20 years ago

Netflix fans have just realized where they’ve seen a star of the hit Ryan Murphy series Monsters before, and it is in a ‘perfect’ comedy scene

Fans are rediscovering which famous actor appeared in a ‘perfect comedy scene’ more than 20 years ago.

The scene itself is from the cult comedy Austin Powers Goldmember, which was the third installment of the spoof spy series starring Mike Myers in the title role.

In fact, Myers played both the titular roles as he reprized the part of the man of mystery Austin Powers as well as the villain Goldmember, a parody of the iconic James Bond nemesis Goldfinger.

However, one scene in particular, which is used in part to introduce singer Beyonce’s breakout role of Foxy Cleopatra also features an actor who recently starred in the Netflix series Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.

An Instagram account posted a clip of the scene with the caption: “Who’s someone that had a small role but they absolutely nailed it?”.

The actor in question is Nathan Lane, who truly steals the moment and character is only listed in the credits as Mysterious Disco Man.

In the scene, we hear Beyonce’s voice saying the lines but Lane lip syncs to every moment perfectly, as well as adding some emphatic gestures.

While appearing the social media post, the moment has also been uploaded to YouTube with one viewer commenting in response that they believe it is an example of the ‘perfect comedy scene.’

Fans were so impressed after revisiting the clip with one replying: “I honestly think the movie would have been better if Nathan Lane played Foxy Cleopatra.”

Another agreed saying “Nathan Lane ALWAYS understands the assignment” with one adding: “Nathan Lane kills it no matter how big or small the role is.”

Some responses shared their surprise at discovering it was Lane in the role at all with one admitting they were ‘today years old’ when they learned of the fact.

While his cameo appearance in the movie was far from a breakout role for Lane, he has since become an instantly recognizable actor in his own right.

Largely thanks to the fact that he provided the original voice of Timon in The Lion King while also starring opposite Robin Williams in The Birdcage.

He has also guest starred on several episodes of the sitcom Modern Family as Mitch and Cam’s friend Pepper Saltzman.

More recently, he played Teddy Dimas in the second season of Only Murders in the Building and the part of Dominick Dunne in Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.

Austin Powers in Goldmember is streaming on Amazon Prime.
