من الوود إلى الstrategies.. Trump’s contradictions towards the Palestinian cause

Contradictions in American policies toward the Palestinian cause are evident in the decisions made by President Donald Trump during his first term. In the first term, Trump made a historic decision to declare Al-Quds as the capital of Israel, which provoked angry reactions on the Arab and international level, as he considered this recognition to be a disregard for the rights of the Palestinians and their aspirations towards the establishment of their independent state.

However, it seems that there is a sudden change in the situation during the second term, where there was talk about the possibility of recognizing the Palestinian state, these changes reflect the inconsistency in American foreign policy and open the door to questions about the administration’s intentions regarding peace in the Middle East, and this contradiction raises many discussions about the political, economic and social dimensions of these decisions and their impact on the future of Israeli-Palestinian relations.

United States will not abandon Israel

And in this case, Dr. Ayman al-Raqqb, professor of political science at Al-Quds University, commented on the American-Israeli relationship, stressing that it is certain that the United States will not abandon Israel, as this relationship is strategic.

Al-Raqb explained during special statements to the newspaper “Egypt Times”, that there are contradictions in the decisions of the American President Donald Trump during his first and second term, including how his statements were made about evacuating the Palestinians from Gaza and turning the Middle East into hell, then talking about turning Gaza into the “Eastern Riviera”, and during his first term he recognized that “Al-Quds” is the capital of Israel, and now there are conflicts about the recognition of the Palestinian state.

Trump’s challenges with Arab leaders

The professor of political science at Al-Quds University added that if Trump came to the Middle East without a clear political legitimacy, he would face great challenges with the Arab leaders, who talked with specific positions and paths, as he pointed out that the language of violence practiced by the occupation is no longer acceptable in any form.

He emphasized that the American president has interests with the Arab countries, and therefore the United States knows well how to care for the Arabs, emphasizing the need for the American president to come to the region and in his presence what he deserves to offer to the Arab leaders.

United States position unclear

Al-Raqb also pointed out that until now the position of the United States on the recognition of the Palestinian state is still unclear, as Trump recognized during his first term less than 22% of the historical Palestinian territory, including parts of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

“Al-Raqb” concluded with a breakdown in the relationship between Netanyahu and Trump, especially because of the understandings that Netanyahu made with the American national security adviser on the Iranian issue, far from Trump, however, Al-Raqb emphasized that it would be difficult for the United States to leave Israel, as it would lead to the rapid collapse of the occupation state.
