

She participated as a member of the National Women’s Council at the meeting of the Steering Group for the Middle East and North Africa and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), in a session titled: The Green Transformation and Global Transformations in the Middle East and North Africa Region.
Mary Louya confirmed that Egypt is paying great attention to a considerate approach to empowering women in their transition to a green economy, confirming that more than 600,000 women have participated in climate awareness initiatives, as well as launching the initiative “Global Perspectives on Women, the Environment and Climate Change”, and the “African Women and Adaptation to Climate Change” (AWCAP) initiative to promote cooperation between African member states in the field of protecting women from climate change, and explained that The “Smart Green Projects” initiative highlights women’s leadership, where women presented 47% of the winning projects in the first round, and 44% in the second round, and home camps and campaigns to encourage investment and training for women, as well as the Egyptian conclusion for gender equality and women’s empowerment, and women’s representation in parliament and leadership.
It also refers to the Egyptian Women’s Observatory, which was established in 2017 to supervise the implementation of the National Strategy for the Empowerment of Egyptian Women 2030, launched by the National Women’s Council and approved by the President of the Republic.
