The leader of the journalists explained in his speech that the constitutional text and the law prohibit the signing of strong penalties for freedom in crimes related to publication or publicity, which represents a constitutional guarantee to protect the freedom of the press and the media in Egypt.

Article 8 of the law states “Without violating any harsher punishment provided for in any other law, and without violating the Law on the Regulation of the Press and the Media and the Supreme Council for the Regulation of the Media issued by the Law No. (180) of 2018, everyone who violates the provisions of Articles 3, 7 of this law shall be punished by imprisonment for a period not exceeding six months, and a fine not less than fifty thousand pounds, and not exceeding fifty thousand pounds or one of two the penalties, and in the case of return, the penalty is doubled, and the legal person is jointly and severally liable for the payment of compensation if the offense was committed by one of his employees and in the name of the legal person.

And the leader of the journalists asked to delete the punishment of the lover in article 8 of the law, because it represents a threat to the independence of the journalistic work, and hinders the role of the media in spreading knowledge and promoting community dialogue.

Al-Naqib confirmed that this demand comes from the belief that it is important to preserve the freedom of expression and the press as a constitutional right, and to strengthen the discussion of the community in the community, in order to achieve public peace.
