WARNING! THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS ABOUT THE GOLDEN BACHELOR SEASON 2!
The Golden Bachelor season 2 star Mel Owens has chosen his final two women, and now the winner has finally been revealed. Mel, a 66-year-old NFL player-turned-lawyer and divorced father of two sons who’s originally from Detroit, Michigan, but now lives in Orange County, California, began his journey with 23 women aged 58 to 77.
However, The Golden Bachelor season 2 started off with controversy when Mel stated on a podcast that he only wanted women aged 45 to 60 in his cast, and that he’d cut anyone over the age of 60 from the group. He also said that he didn’t want to date anyone with artificial hips or wigs. Fans immediately called for his firing, but the show went on with him as the lead.
The Golden Bachelor season 2 began with Mel apologizing to the women for his comments, and then he began his search for love. He’s now narrowed down his 23 women to his final two: Cindy Cullers, a 60-year-old retired biomedical engineer and divorced mother of three daughters from Austin, Texas; and Peg Munson, a 62-year-old retired firefighter and bomb tech and divorced mother of one daughter from Las Vegas, Nevada. Now, a new spoiler finally reveals who Mel chose, and if he’s engaged.
The Golden Bachelor Season 2’s Mel Owens Is Engaged To Peg Munson
According to an Instagram post from Reality SteveMel is engaged to Peg. However, Reality Steve did not share any details about the engagement or the final rose ceremony.
Peg has been a frontrunner to win Mel’s heart since the beginning of The Golden Bachelor. Their magical one-on-one date at the Orange County Fair showcased their strong connection, as they played carnival games and danced on stage to a live performance from KC and The Sunshine Band.
Mel and Peg’s relationship deepened from there, and he eventually chose her for a hometown date, during which he met her family and fellow firefighters in Las Vegas. While there, Peg told her mother that she’d accept a proposal from Mel if he asked.
Cindy Cullers Was Mel Owens’ Golden Bachelor Season 2 Runner-Up
Because Mel got engaged to Peg at the end of The Golden Bachelor season 2, this means that Cindy was his runner-up. Cindy and Mel felt an instant connection during the premiere night, which continued to grow throughout the season.
Mel and Cindy’s one-on-one date, during which they went horseback riding, and then visited Griffith Observatory, where he revealed that he’d had a star named after her, was incredibly romantic. Mel later met Cindy’s family during her hometown date in Austin, and she even welcomed him into her condominium, which she said she doesn’t do often.
However, Cindy’s daughters were unsure if he felt the same way about her that she felt about him. She even held back on telling him that she loved him because of it, but she did say that she was falling for him. In his confessional, though, Mel admitted that he wasn’t there yet, so perhaps that’s why he broke up with Cindy in the end.
It’s going to be very intriguing to see what led to Mel choosing to get engaged to Peg instead of Cindy at the end of The Golden Bachelor season 2. Peg is a wonderful match for Mel, but so was Cindy, so their breakup is certain to be heartbreaking.
However, Peg brings out a side of Mel that no other woman does, and she challenges him in all the best ways. Hopefully, Mel and Peg’s engagement is only the beginning of a lifetime of love, and they’ll live happily ever after.
The Golden Bachelor airs Wednesdays at 9 pm EDT on ABC.
