McFly’s forgotten cameo in teen comedy film with huge Hollywood stars unearthed

McFly are arguably one of the biggest bands of the noughties, but did you know they appeared in a Hollywood film with huge stars?

McFly burst onto the scene back in 2003 and have built up a loyal fan following over the past two decades in the music industry.

With seven studio album releases, members Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd have cemented their places in music history.

However, many people have forgotten their cameo appearance in the American romantic comedy film Just My Luck, in which they made a special appearance.

The film starred Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine in the lead roles and was released back in 2006, just three years after the band hit the scene. It tells the story of Ashley Albright who works in public relations and is the luckiest person in Manhattan.

Meanwhile, Jake Hardin is a janitor and a would-be music producer who seems to have terrible luck.

The pair end up kissing at a masquerade ball, which switches their luck and changes their lives forever, leading to hilarious consequences.

Jake appears as the unpaid US manager of McFly in the film, who is hoping to get them discovered in the States. The boys also lent some of their songs from their first two albums, Room on the 3rd Floor and Wonderland, for the movie’s soundtrack.

They also recorded the title song, Just My Luck which was included on the US-only album and held a concert at London’s Hammersmith Apollo which was used in the film.

The film wasn’t a huge success as it made $38.2 million at the box office, against a budget of $28.2 million.

It also did not receive generally good reviews, gaining a 13% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Despite still performing as part of the group, all four members have carved out their own careers, with Dougie winning I’m A Celebrity and Harry being crowned Strictly Come Dancing champion.

Tom and Danny teamed up this year to become coaches on The Voice and ended up winning with Bristol-born Ava.

McFly recently announced that they are going on tour with Busted in the Busted VS McFly tour in 2025. This will mark the first time all seven members of each band will perform together ever since Busted invited McFly to tour with them back in 2003 when McFly were starting out.

McFly the 21st Birthday Party airs on Saturday at 5:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX
