“It Became Number 1 On Streaming”

2025 saw Snow White return to the big screen as Disney continues to explore the concept of live-action remakes based on their classic animated stories. After years of working on it, Disney’s live-action take on Snow White was released to the world, only to become one of the year’s biggest commercial failures.

During a new interview with glamorRachel Zegler, who took on the role of the iconic protagonist, looked back at the Snow White film’s theatrical run and her experience working on it. “Every experience I’ve had so far has been such a wonderful lesson learned,” she shared while adding, “I loved working on (Snow White), and I love that film.”

The 24-year-old star has “seen it a few times, and it (became) number one on streaming on Disney+, so I know that it’s celebrated.” For Zegler, “It was one of those experiences of sometimes negativity being louder than positivity.”

“What I took away from it is just to really, really soak in when it feels good and understand that it’s possible when it feels bad,” Zegler explained. She concluded by sharing how “the beautiful thing about Evita for me—beyond all of the wonderful people I met and all of the wonderful work we’re doing—is that I never thought I would be a part of something so celebrated, because of the way that I’ve been conditioned to believe that I wouldn’t be.”

The film, directed by Marc Webb, starred Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen and Andrew Burnap as Jonathan, with Snow White grossing only $205.6 million at the worldwide box office. $87.2 million came from domestic ticket sales, while the other $118.4 million arrived from the international market.

While Snow White may be a hit on Disney+, the remake reportedly cost around $270 million to produce, the movie also underwent significant reshoots. The 2025 installment currently sits with a 39% Critics’ Score on Rotten Tomatoes, while having 69% in the Audience Score.

ScreenRant’s Snow White movie review by Rachel Labonte praised Zegler as well “a perfect Disney princess,” while addressing the issues with the overall story and the controversial CGI for the Dwarfs. Even though this remake was a failure for Disney, the studio went big with them Lilo & Stitch live-action adaptation, which grossed over $1 billion.

Snow White is available through home media release, while streaming on Disney+.
