I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Buck Mason makes some of the *best* staple pieces out there. So naturally I couldn’t leave this versatile design off this list. It’s made of a crisp poplin cotton material and has a drapey fit that should leave enough space for you to layer bulkier sweaters underneath this fall, while the epaulettes at the shoulders give it some sophisticated structure. Plus, it has a longer length that resembles Stone’s, but it’s not so long that anyone with a shorter height (like me) should have any problems wearing it.

Gap’s fall collection is seriously good this year, and it includes this pared-down trench which just so happens to be on sale. It comes in both this classic khaki color and black, as well as regular, plus and petite sizes. Unsurprisingly, plenty of shoppers agree that it’s a piece that will never go out of style. “Bought both tan and black, they’re so classy. Dress up, or cover up grubby wear when you go drop your kid off somewhere! Love these coats so much. The length is modern, but won’t go out of style,” wrote one buyer, who may have just convinced me to pick it up in both colors, too.
