Gates has long said his kids will receive only about 1% of his fortunewith the rest going to philanthropy. Despite that staggering wealth, Melinda French Gates once explained she wanted her family to stay grounded — even while raising her children inside a $130 million lakeside mansion.
That perspective stands out as the Gates children have built lives of their own. the oldest, Jennifer Gates, made headlines in 2023 when she bought a $51 million penthouse in Manhattan’s Tribeca neighborhood at age 26.
