Jersey’s Charlie Corbel, 21, won the England Boxing Development Championships 63.5kg category on 18 October after beating Guernsey boxer Tyler Quintal in the semi-final.
Corbel said he and Quintel were both examples of the talent emerging from the Channel Islands and he planned to enter more amateur boxing competitions, including the National Amateur Championships.
“If that puts me on the path to the Commonwealth Games, where I can wear the Jersey crest on my shirt, then that’s something I definitely want to do,” he said.
‘Great experience’
The England Boxing Development Championships competition is for up and coming boxers to showcase their skills.
Previous winners include Tommy Fury, Galal Yafai, and Georgia O’Connor.
Corbel said: “I started boxing with Jersey Leonis back as a junior in 2017. It was a great experience.”

He now boxes at Islington Boxing Gym but said he remained in contact with Jersey Leonis.
In a statement on social media, the Jersey boxing club said Corbel’s achievement was “incredible news” and “testament to Charlie’s hard work, focus, and determination in the ring”.
The club added: “Everyone at Jersey Leonis ABC is immensely proud of Charlie’s success and the dedication he’s shown throughout his journey.”
