One-Punch Man Season 3 Director Exits Social Media Amid Season 3 Backlash

There’s no doubt that the start of One-Punch Man Season 3 has sparked a wave of criticism from fans dissatisfied with the anime’s quality. However, fans have decided to vent their frustrations directly at the staff of the animation studio JC Staff, an unacceptable situation that One-Punch Man Season 3‘s director, Shinpei Nagai, couldn’t remain silent about.

In a new post on X, published on October 22, 2025, One-Punch Man’s director Shinpei Nagai openly addressed his followers, explaining why he was forced to close his account and leave social media. Malicious fans took out of context a recent post by Nagai about One-Punch Man Season 3affecting his team’s reputation and the director’s mental health.

Shinpei Nagai initially requested that his involvement as director of One-Punch Man Season 3 not be revealed until closer to its release date. Unfortunately, while the quality of an anime depends on many factors, from budget and production schedule to the decisions of the executive committee, many fans directed their anger over One-Punch Man Season 3‘s poor animation towards director Nagai.

However, although the director dedicated himself to answering questions and alleviating fans’ concerns, the reaction of some caused Nagai to have to limit his X account. On October 21, 2025, Nagai published a post on X in which he expressed his disappointment over the negative comments from fans following the broadcast of the second episode of One-Punch Man Season 3.

Nagai sought to express his feelings, but the comment was shared with ill nature by some content creators. Nagai criticized those who engage in provocation and belittle the work of the staff, which has been under pressure to deliver a strong One-Punch Man season despite their limited resources. As a result, Nagai decided to permanently close his social media accounts.

One-Punch Man Season 3 Hints at the Dangers of Anime Fans’ Expectations

While it’s natural for fans who have waited for an anime for years to be disappointed when it doesn’t live up to expectations, to its source material, or to other recent series’ level, harassing the staff behind the animation studios isn’t the answer. Most animators are passionate about anime, giving their best to deliver satisfactory work even in difficult circumstances.

One-Punch Man Season 3 isn’t the first anime sparking backlash recently, either Blue Lock Season 2 and The Beginning After the End did not meet the level expected from their popularity. Yet, the recent statement from One-Punch Man season 3‘s director highlights how it’s better to create a better environment by expressing criticism constructively rather than harassing artists and their work.
