Wicked Night Recap & Elimination


Dancing With The Stars season 34’s Wicked night will see the stars in the ballroom dancing to songs from Wicked and Wicked: For Good as an elimination looms, and we’re bringing you up-to-the-minute updates. After Dancing With The Stars season 34’s last week of competition saw the stars dedicating emotional dances to their loved ones, the lack of elimination may see multiple celebrities headed home.

As the stars get further in the competition, the dances grow more difficult and their skills are more thoroughly judged by the DWTS judges. Throughout the last few weeks of competition, it’s been clear that Dancing With The Stars season 34 has continued to get tougher, and the margin between the competitors has grown slimmer with each passing week.

After getting their highest scores of the competition so far last week, Scott and Rylee took on a contemporary dance to “The Wizard & I” Frome Wicked. Hopeful that he’d be able to show his love for the musical in his dance, Scott took the performance very seriously. The pair’s dance was high energy, but Scott’s transitions throughout the performance left a lot to be desired.

Scott and Rylee received a 7 from guest judge Jon M. Chu, 7 from Carrie Ann Inaba, 7 from Derek Hough, and 7 from Bruno Tonioli for a total of 28 out of 40. His two-week total is 48 out of 80.

“What Is This Feeling?” – Jazz

Alix Earle and Val Chmerkovskiy took on an inventive jazz routine to “What Is This Feeling?” and brought the iconic DWTS troupe into their performance. As someone who’s been improving week after week, Alix was hopeful she’d be able to do the story of the dance justice. With great footwork and a sassy nod to Ariana Grande’s Galinda the Good, the ballroom was on their feet for Alix.

Alix and Val received an 8 from guest judge Jon M. Chu, 9 from Carrie Ann Inaba, 9 from Derek Hough, and 9 from Bruno Tonioli for a total of 35 out of 40. Her two-week total is 70 out of 80.

Witney Carson and Robert Irwin delivered one of the most powerful dances of Dedication night, and followed it up with a jazz routine to “Dancing Through Life” Frome Wicked. Fans of the musical were excited to see Robert take on the iconic song, and with the chance to have a fun time dancing for Wicked night, Robert’s routine did not disappoint the viewers or judges.

With a challenging routine that allowed Robert to show off some moves on his own, he took the ballroom by storm. Witney and Robert received a 9 from guest judge Jon M. Chu, 9 from Carrie Ann Inaba, 9 from Derek Hough, and 9 from Bruno Tonioli for a total of 36 out of 40. His two-week total is 71 out of 80.

Whitney Leavitt and Mark Ballas got the chance to dance to “Popular” Frome Wickedworking with a very different dance from their contemporary the week before. Dancing a quickstep, Mark worked to teach Whitney the fast-paced steps of the dance. Embodying the character of the dance, Whitney and Mark’s foxtrot was a sharp, exciting dance that kept the footwork in mind as they floated through the ballroom.

Leaving the judges amazed, Whitney tackled the tough choreography with ease. Whitney & Mark received a 10 from guest judge Jon M. Chu, 10 from Carrie Ann Inaba, 9 from Derek Hough, and 10 from Bruno Tonioli for a total of 39 out of 40. Her two-week total is 72 out of 80.

“I’m Not That Girl” – Rumba

Dylan Efron and Daniella Karagach’s sweet routine from dedication night left them on the top of the leaderboard last week, and Wicked night saw them take on a rumba to “I’m Not That Girl” from the movie. A whole new dance style for Dylan, the pair was ready to take on something new and inventive with the rumba, hoping to activate his hip action.

Dylan and Daniella’s dance featured some tough choreography out of his comfort zone, which made the dance a bit tough for the pair. They received an 8 from guest judge Jon M. Chu, 8 from Carrie Ann Inaba, 8 from Derek Hough, and 8 from Bruno Tonioli for a total of 32 out of 40. His two-week total is 68 out of 80.

“One Short Day” – Jazz

Comedian Andy Richter and his partner Emma Slater were excited to take on a campy jazz routine “One Short Day” after bringing his daughter into the mix during dedication night last week. Improving every week, Andy and Emma put together a fun routine that challenged him a bit more than others in the past. Ready to perform, Andy shared that he was excited despite his nerves.

Praised for his improvement once again by the judges, Andy’s joyful routine was incredible to watch. Andy and Emma received a 7 from guest judge Jon M. Chu, 7 from Carrie Ann Inaba, 7 from Derek Hough, and 8 from Bruno Tonioli for a total of 27 out of 40. His two-week total is 51 out of 80.

“Defying Gravity” – Contemporary

Dancing to perhaps the most famous song from Wicked, Alan Bersten and actress Elaine Hendrix were excited to be performing a contemporary routine to “Defying Gravity”. Elaine, who’s been improving steadily throughout the competition, had a tough time with her scores last week, and looked to channel the energy into the iconic number. Alan didn’t take the choreography lightly, hoping to challenge Elaine.

Despite the challenges, Elaine and Alan’s dance showcased her incredible abilities, and the judges were floored by her commitment. Elaine and Alan received a 9 from guest judge Jon M. Chu, 9 from Carrie Ann Inaba, 9 from Derek Hough, and 9 from Bruno Tonioli for a total of 36 out of 40. Her two-week total is 66 out of 80.

“As Long As You’re Mine” – Foxtrot

While Jen Affleck has been having a tougher time in the competition than her The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives co-star, Jan Ravnik has been challenging her as much as possible and wanted to do even more with a foxtrot to “As Long As You’re Mine”. Jen and Jan may have had a tough time getting ready for the dance, but they were ready to challenge themselves.

Jan’s choreography was purposely tougher this week, and Jen did a bit better with the more difficult moves. Jen and Jan received an 8 from guest judge Jon M. Chu, 8 from Carrie Ann Inaba, 8 from Derek Hough, and 8 from Bruno Tonioli for a total of 32 out of 40. Her two-week total is 61 out of 80.

Danielle Fishel and her partner Pasha Pashkov were hoping to bring a different energy to the ballroom with an Agentine Tango to “No Good Deed” Frome Wicked. After getting some tough scores last week, they were ready to bring some more intensity to the ballroom during Wicked night. With challenging choreography that saw Danielle and Pasha getting moody and romantic, the pair were intense and technical.

With the pair able to embody a different side in their routine, the judges were hopeful to see more from Danielle and Pasha moving forward. Danielle and Pasha received a 9 from guest judge Jon M. Chu, 9 from Carrie Ann Inaba, 9 from Derek Hough, and 9 from Bruno Tonioli for a total of 36 out of 40. Her two-week total is 65 out of 80.

“For Good” – Rumba

Olympian Jordan Chiles and her partner Ezra Sosa went from a sweet dance with her father to an intense rumba to “For Good” Frome Wicked. Hoping to break through to some higher scores, Ezra put some intense choreography into the routine, and Jordan was able to bring something different to her dance for the final slot of the exciting night.

With a sweet, technical routine, Jordan and Ezra were praised by the judges for their dance. Jordan and Ezra received a 10 from guest judge Jon M. Chu, 10 from Carrie Ann Inaba, 9 from Derek Hough, and 10 from Bruno Tonioli for a total of 39 out of 40. Her two-week total is 71 out of 80.

After an incredible evening of performances, Dancing With The Stars season 34 had to move forward with an elimination after last week’s was skipped. Although the stars were all able to connect to Wicked, some had stronger performances than others, and the bottom three of Scott, Dylan, and Andy made it clear the vote was a difficult one.

Dancing With The Stars season 34 saw Scott and Rylee eliminated from the ballroom, taking them out of the running for the mirrorball trophy. With Andy and Dylan still in the mix, it was tough to see Scott go, but his dances throughout the season made it Dancing With The Stars far more fun this season.

Dancing With The Stars airs Tuesdays at 8 pm EDT on ABC.
