Tom Arnold Directs ‘The Breakup Pill’; Stars With Mcabe Gregg & Teala Dunn

EXCLUSIVE: Comedian and actor Tom Arnold (Roseanne) has wrapped production on The Breakup Pilla high-concept romantic comedy marking his feature directorial debut, where he stars alongside Mcabe Gregg (Saturday Night) and Teala Dunn (Are We There Yet?).

Produced from his own script by Adam Lorenzo, whose writing credits include Everybody Loves Raymond and Everybody Hates Christhe film is about a young guy who has had his heart broken a million times, therefore agreeing to participate in a trial for a new drug that promises to eliminate the pain of breakups. But an unexpected side effect is, he can no longer fall in love… and that’s when he meets the woman of his dreams.

The Breakup Pill shot in Los Angeles, completing both production and post-production recently, despite delays caused by January’s devastating SoCal wildfires, which destroyed Lorenzo’s home. Jason Ramos (Landman) served as executive producer.

In a statement to Deadline, Arnold shared, “I decided to step behind the camera for the first time.” The Breakup Pill because the script is funny, heartfelt and I identified with its premise (I’ve been divorced four times).”

Said Lorenzo of his inspiration, “I wanted to make a true romantic comedy. Y’know, a new kind of When Harry Met Sally — with big laughs and real feelings… and to shoot it in LA, the city that I love.”

Best known for his work on the iconic sitcom Roseanneas an actor, writer and executive producer, Arnold earned a Peabody Award for his writing on the show, as well as a Golden Globe. He is represented by Buchwald and Link Entertainment.

Gregg recently starred as Tom Davis, of the iconic comedy and writing duo of Franken and Davis, in Jason Reitman’s Saturday Night. He’s also been seen in SXSW official selection Teenage Badass and is repped by Insurge-Ent and Authentic Literary & Talent Management.

Dunn is known for her comedic roles in films and series, including 83 episodes of Are We There Yet? alongside Ice Cube, Essence Atkins and Terry Crews; Hulu’s All Nightand recent podcast series Moonburn. Also a YouTube personality with over 3.5 million subscribers, she is repped by Dulcedo and Choncia Dunn.
