Singing superstar and icon Elton John has opened up in a tell-all Disney+ documentary, but fans have been left concerned over one comment he makes in the show
Elton John has enjoyed a decades-long career with his music continuing to resonate with audiences to this day.
The icon has opened up about his life in a never-before-seen way with his new documentary Elton John: Never Too Late, which premiered on Disney+ today (December 13).
The show documents his final tour, The Farewell Yellow Brick Road, which saw the star perform 330 concerts worldwide from 2018 to 2023. In the one-off special, the songwriter revealed his fears over not knowing how much time he has left and using that time for what is truly important.
He divulged: “This is the latter time of my life, I don’t know how much time I have left and you think about that more when you get to my age.
“You think about life and death and you think: ‘Well, I just want to be where I want to be now, I don’t have to work after this tour, I don’t want to do anything, I will be working and doing records, putting radio shows together and doing other things’.
“But traveling takes so much out of you, it’s very tiring. I’m used to it, I’m a veteran at it but this is when you start to think of mortality.”
The interview pointed out that having children makes one think about mortality as well, which got Elton thinking about his own children, Zachary and Elijah, with husband David Furnish. He continued: “They worry about my mortality, they worry about my mortality because they know how old I am. Not so much David, but me.

“They love their daddy so they want me to be around forever and I would love to be around forever and I want to see our children get married but I don’t think I’m going to be around for that.
“Who knows, you never know, so that’s why I want to make the best of my time while I’m around. Time together is so wonderful and so precious.”
Elton began his career with the blues band Bluesology in 1962 before leaving in 1967 to pursue his own solo career. Over his long-running career, the singer has released 31 studio albums, with his last, Regimental Sgt. Zippo releasing back in 2021.
Elton met David back in 1993 and were among one of the first couples in the UK to form a civil partnership. They got married in 2014 before welcoming their sons in 2010 and 2013, via a surrogate.
