Ministry of Solidarity: 173 House at the level of 22 governorates to serve the elderly

The Ministry of Social Solidarity launched a number of events at the governorate level with the participation of the elderly in conjunction with the presidential initiative “a new beginning for human building”, starting from the first of October for a period of ten days it concluded with the Arab Day for the Elderly that is held for the first time based on the decision of the Arab Social Affairs Council, in the context of celebrating the International Day of the Elderly, and under the patronage of Dr. Maya Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity

These activities come within the framework of emphasizing the importance of awareness and protection for the elderly, and highlighting the role of sponsorship providers.

In Alexandria, with the participation of 150 elderly and elderly people from the governorates of “Kafr El -Sheikh – Al -Buhaira – Alexandria”, cultural competitions and an exhibition of handicrafts and elderly products were implemented, as well as the presentation of the elderly talents, and the Egyptian Red Crescent participated in medical convoys that provide services to the participants, in addition to the Shouf Bakra campaign with you signing the medical examination of the eyes of the participants.

In Ismailia, in the presence of the Governor of Ismailia, with the participation of the elderly from the role and clubs of the governorates of “Cairo- Giza- Suez- Ismailia- Port Said”, a health awareness program and entertainment programs were launched that included visiting the Ismailia Museum and visiting the memorial.

In Dakahlia, in the presence of the governor, an event was implemented with the participation of 5 governorates, “Qaliubiya, Cairo, Western, Menoufia, and Dakahlia,” The event included artistic, cultural and religious competitions and lyrical performances with the participation of the elderly.

The first physical therapy center for the elderly to care for the elderly in Helwan will be operated with the latest devices with the support of Nasser Social Bank to provide physical therapy services for the elderly inside and outside the role, while working on the speedy completion of preparing the second center for model physiotherapy at the Elderly House in New Damietta, and medical convoys of the Egyptian Red Crescent will start to provide many medical and treatment services to the elderly.

It is worth noting that the Ministry of Social Solidarity aims, through its efforts, to achieve protection and stability for the elderly category, and to preserve them and their rights from negative social phenomena through a number of activities and programs to improve their social level and achieve security and social justice.

The state pays great attention to the auspices of the elderly and the services provided to them, as the constitution for the year 2014 stipulated in Article 83 to the state’s commitment to guaranteeing the rights of the elderly health, social, cultural, economic and recreational, and the provision of an appropriate pension that guarantees them a decent life and their right to public participation and that the state take into account its planning for public facilities the needs of the elderly.

The Ministry of Social Solidarity aims to provide an equipped residence for the elderly that includes all the necessary social, health, entertaining, and economic care in the role of the elderly, as well as providing health, preventive and household care “elderly facilities”, protecting the elderly from exposure to violence, abuse and neglect, enhancing the benefit from the abilities and experiences of the elderly, integrating them in all their categories, and providing services for the clubs of the elderly.

The number of the elderly role is 173 house at the level of 22 governorates, and 191 clubs for the elderly, who provide them with initiatives and services in the context of achieving protection and stability for the elderly category and preserving their entity and all their rights from negative social phenomena through a set of activities and programs to improve the social level for them and achieve security and social justice, 26 units of physical therapy, and 27 elderly service offices.
