Ankara (Turkish Zaman) – The costs of private schools in Türkiye have become a heavy burden on families for a long time, but the new prices announced by the Turkish Koch schools for this year exceeded all expectations.
Where the annual registration costs of the kindergarten and first grade of primary school reached 1.7 million TL (about 45 thousand US dollars with a calculation of school transportation costs).
New prices shock
Koch schools, one of the oldest private educational institutions in Türkiye, revealed registration fees for the 2025-2026 academic year, which came much higher than expected, especially for the kindergarten and primary stage. These numbers caused a sensation on social media platforms, as many found that these costs have become far from the reach of regular families.
Shocking prices details
According to the published price list:
The registration fees for the kindergarten and the first primary stage reached 1,702,800 TL annually.
While the cost of the middle stage reached 1,470,600 TL.
As for the secondary stage, it recorded 1,625,400 TL annually.
Comments on the decision
This announcement sparked widespread reactions, as many parents and academics criticized the great rise in the costs of special education, considering that this prevents many families from obtaining a good education for their children. On the other hand, the school administration defended the new prices, noting the high operational costs and the quality of the educational services provided.
It is noteworthy that Türkiye has been experiencing for years a continuous increase in private school prices, which increases the educational gap between families capable of bearing these costs and those that depend on free government education.
